Chicken Tikka Masala

Enjoy our flavorful Tikka Masala Recipe with its aromatic creamy tomato sauce. Serve with rice or naan. Servings: 3


For the Chicken Marinade:

  • 1 lb chicken cut into 1 inch cubes

    • Vegetarian alternative: 1 lb paneer cut into 1 inch cubes

  • 2 tbs CurryFresh Masala Curry Paste

  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt

  • 1 tbs minced garlic & ginger

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

For the Sauce:

  • 2 1/2 tbs CurryFresh Masala Curry Paste

  • 1 tbs ghee or cooking oil

  • 2 tbs minced ginger & garlic

  • 1 medium white onion finely chopped

  • 1 medium tomato finely chopped

  • 1/2 cup tomato puree

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric (optional)

    • This will make the sauce more yellow

  • 2 tbs butter

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream or 1/2 cup half/half

  • Salt to taste


  • Place the chicken cubes in a bowl and add all the other marinade ingredients. Mix together. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes or more.

  • Remove the Chicken Marinade from the refrigerator. Add ghee or cooking oil to a deep skillet and add the chicken. Seer until brown and remove from the skillet. Set aside.

  • Add minced garlic & ginger and saute for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add onions and cook until translucent.

  • Next add the tomatoes, mix and saute until soft. Add salt to taste and mix all together.

  • Add CurryFresh Masala Curry Paste. Cook until fragrant.

  • Add tomato puree, mix, bring to simmer, cover and simmer for another 5 minutes.

  • Add butter and mix well.

  • Add the chicken. Bring to a simmer for about 3 minutes. Add the cream and mix.

  • If needed, adjust thickness of your sauce by adding water.

  • Add salt to taste.

  • Serve with rice or naan.
